Vintage 1940 Gruen VeriThin Precision Pocket Watch Cal.440 17J New Crystal

This is a beautiful vintage Gruen VeriThin Precision pocket watch, presented in 1940 as a 25-year service award. It features the Gruen Caliber 440 Ultra-VeriThin Swiss movement with 17 jewels, housed in a rare pentagon-shaped 14K gold-filled Wadsworth case (serial G169064). The silver dial has gilt numerals, pentagon sub-seconds, and original hands. A brand new Gruen crystal was recently installed, giving a clear, scratch-free view. The back is engraved: “Presented to Theodore Britschy in recognition of 25 years service with The Sheboygan Press, 1940.” The watch winds, sets, and runs; not tested for accuracy and may benefit from routine service due to age.
